Governing Board Meeting

1. Pledge and Welcome
Mike Metzger, Board President

This meeting is a meeting of the Governing Board in public for the purpose of conducting the Career Center's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There will be time for public participation as indicated by a specified agenda item.
Mission Statement: To engage, support, and empower students by providing active, career-based learning in an experiential environment.

Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Mike Metzger, President.  Mr. Metzger welcomed everyone and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Those in attendance:  Mike Quaranta, Assistant Director; Alvin Bible, C9TA Representative; and Michelle Davis, Adult Education Director.

No additions/changes to the agenda were presented.


2. Program Showcase - Early Childhood
Carrie Lamb, Instructor

Minutes

Mrs. Carrie Lamb, Early Childhood Instructor, introduced her students.  The students shared where they are currently working through the Early Childhood Program.  The students shared what they are learning and how the program will benefit them in the future.

Chris Lewis moved for approval of the Consent Agenda Items as presented.  Becky Nelson seconded the motion.  Motion passed 8-0.

4.1 Request Approval of Overnight Travel
  • Dr. Kovach to attend the IACTED Summer Conference, Brown County, Indiana, June 9-11, 2025

Dr. Kovach requested approval to attend the IACTED Summer Conference in Brown County, Indiana, June 9-11, 2025.  

Ed Harvey moved for approval of the overnight travel for Dr. Kovach.  Linda Polesel seconded the motion.  Motion passed 8-0.


5. Director's Comments and Items of Information

By the May board meeting Cindy Payton and I will have an operating budget proposal prepared for a first reading.  I will meet with superintendents the day before to present to them.  I am hopeful we learn more about both state funding and Perkins funding by then to gain a better understanding of what level of funding we will be able to work with.

Michelle Davis stated that Adult Education did not have a Personnel Report for April.


8. Adult Education Monthly Update

Michelle Davis shared the Adult Education Monthly Update (attached).

Mike Metzger suggested that Adult Education present a showcase at the June or July Board Meeting to give the new board members more knowledge of how the Adult Education program operates.  It was decided that Adult Education would be the showcase at the June 12, 2025, Board Meeting.
